Dalton Promoted to Lead Pioneers
August 26, 2015
LYNNWOOD – A familiar face will take the reins of the Pilchuck Pioneers in 2016. Bryan Dalton, who has assisted the Pioneers the last two summers, has been promoted to the head coaching post of the NWCBL club.
Dalton is from Vancouver, Washington, where he attended Columbia River High School. Like other coaches in the NWCBL, he brings playing experience as an NWAC player as well as competing at the NCAA level. A right‐handed pitcher, he played at Columbia Basin College before transferring to Seattle University. He was used a closer his senior year.
Dalton also has head coaching experience, serving as the head coach of Showtime Baseball in 2013. Dalton assisted the Battle Ground High School program as well in 2013.
Dalton is excited for next summer.
"I have been fortunate to have been an assistant with Pilchuck the last two years," he said. "I had the opportunity to work with players I coached from the previous year as well as guys from other programs at the high school level. Seeing their growth was exciting and self‐gratifying. I’m looking forward to 2016. Go Chucks!”
NWCBL president Spencer Stark thinks the transition will be seamless.
"Bryan has wanted to be a head coach in our league since its inception in 2014, Stark said. "Over the past two summers he has proven that he is ready to step into that role.”
Dalton will continue to be responsible for the development of Pioneer pitchers.
“Being able to have another quality pitch guy that understands the development aspect of our league will only benefit our players,” Stark said.
Marcelino Morales will serve as the Pioneers assistant
coach in 2016. Morales is originally from Richland, Washington, and took the
same path as Dalton, playing at Columbia Basin College before finishing his playing
